Thoughts on: Truth

(0)

Truth. It is cold and it is hard. It is unchangeable and, well, true. Winston Churchill once said of it, “Truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it and ignorance may deride it, but, in the end, there it is.” Yet when one ponders the subject of truth; when one really delves deeply into what truth is, its actual nature can come into light. Truth is, in fact, a figment of our imagination.

There is a common truth known by all the world, it reads: The Sky is Blue.
Yet allow me to contradict the world. I say that this statement is false. The sky is not blue, and never has been. It is instead a rather light and delicate shade of aquamarine; and aquamarine is most definitely not blue. This is my truth (at least for this post).

Truth is not an object that occupies space in the world. It can only exist inside our minds. The problem is that anything found in our minds is viewed in light of our experiences and thus changes for each person. Truth is not incontrovertible, it only exists as we see it.
